Women's Tennis Opens Dual Season on Friday at XS Tennis

Blue Demons duel with Bradley Friday and host Army West Point on Sunday
CHICAGO – Coach Marisa Arce and her BIG EAST runner-up women's tennis team is fired up for the opening of their dual-match season on Friday.
They will officially christen the new home of DePaul tennis, the XS Tennis Village on the South Side. Both women's and men's teams will play their home matches at XS while continuing to practice at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness.
The women's team put together an 11-5 dual season in 2021 including a 5-2 victory over Bradley---the Blue Demons' opponent Friday in the 1:30 nonconference match. They take on Army West Point Sunday at XS Tennis with first serve at 1:30 p.m.
Last year they were 3-1 against BIG EAST opponents in the regular season with the only setback coming to Xavier. Arce & Co. defeated Butler 4-0 and Villanova 4-1 in the BIG EAST tournament but dropped a 4-1 decision to Xavier in the title match.
The program has made seven consecutive appearances in the conference finals with titles in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2019.
Talented freshman Eleanor Nobbs finished her first collegiate tournament season in the fall with an 8-4 singles record.
In doubles, the No. 1 tandem of Lenka Antonijevic and Kizelbasheva led the team last fall with a 9-4 record and qualified for the ITA Super Regional in Columbus, Ohio. Marija Jovicic and Maddie Yergler went 3-2.
Bradley (0-0) ventures to the South Side featuring Nikki Perlwitz (9-2 in singles), Maria Bezmenovic (8-3) and Kirstin Hailey (7-2).
Army is off to a 0-2 start with a 6-1 setback at Syracuse and a 5-2 loss at Dartmouth. Cooper Jackson and Justine Dondonay are both 3-0.
