
Blue Demons trail #19 Georgetown in Game 10

DePaul Held Off by Hoyas 1-0
CHICAGO, Ill. – On Sunday, October 2, DePaul women's soccer lost to #19 Georgetown 1-0. The Blue Demons shut out the Hoyas in the first half, but Georgetown found the back of the net in the second to secure the win.Â

Right off the bat the Hoyas were relentless on the field. However, DePaul responded with incredible defense throughout the half. Senior Forward Kristin Boos worked the field, overturning the ball every chance she got. Defender Sydney Parker cleared out Georgetown's corner kicks and Midfielder Ebba Costow refused to let the Blue and Grey through to the backline. Forward Katie Godden was able to generate a shot in the 42nd minute but could not connect. The Hoyas put up eight shots but found themselves scoreless at the end of the first 45. Goalkeeper Mollie Eriksson assisted in the shutout with four saves.Â

In the second half of the game, the Blue Demons continued to play strong. Georgetown kept up the fight but gave DePaul some opportunities on offense. In the 76th minute, Junior Midfielder Beth Smyth put up a header and In the last seven minutes of the game, Junior Defender Bella Hanish also took a chance at the goal but both attempts fell short. The Hoyas were able to get on the board in the 78th minute after a header off a corner kick successfully landed into the net. DePaul tried to find an equalizer but could not connect before the end.Â
