Women's Tennis Eases Past NIU 6-1 on Sunday

Secured the doubles point before winning five of six singles matches in DeKalb
DE KALB, Ill. – The Blue Demons didn't waste any time getting down to business on Sunday.
After winning the doubles point, they went on to capture all but one singles match in a resounding 6-1 road victory over Northern Illinois.
Coach Marisa Arce's team improved to 2-3 while NIU dropped to 5-3.
No. 1 doubles team Lenka Antonijevic and Yuliya Kizelbasheva defeated Erika Dimitriev/Anastasia Rakita 6-3, and the Eleanor Nobbs/Valentina Martin tandem's 6-3 victory over Iuliia Dmitrieva and Fernanda Naves provided an early 1-0 lead.
Kizelbasheva was a double-winner after prevailing over Dimitriev 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Marija Jovicic topped Rakita 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
Both Nobbs and Martin joined Kizelbasheva in the double-winner's circle after Nobbs beat Angelica Ross 7-5, 6-1 at No. 5 and her doubles partner Martin followed suit with a 7-6, 4-6, 1-0(10-7) victory over Christy Robinson at No. 6.
Maddie Yergler won at the No. 4 position in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3 over Reagan Welch.
The Blue Demons are back on the road next weekend traveling to the Hoosier State to face BIG EAST adversary Butler on Friday in Indianapolis and then heading over to West Lafayette for a Sunday matchup at Purdue.
