Nicole Sullivan hits fourth home run of the season in setback
MISSOULA, Mont. — DePaul dropped a 3-1 decision to Seattle on Saturday afternoon in day two of the Montana Invitational.
The Blue Demons struggled to get the bats going in a four-hit outing, while the Redhawks totaled seven hits including a three-run home run in the bottom of the third that was the difference maker.
Nicole Sullivan was responsible for the lone run of the contest with a solo home run to left center in the fourth inning. Sullivan has four home runs on the season, good for second on the team.
Trailing 3-1, DePaul (9-12) threatened in the top of the sixth after Brooke Johnson drew a walk and advanced to second on a ground out. Sullivan saw her second hit of the contest with a single to second base to put runners on the corners. The next at bat saw a line out to left field to strand the runners and leave the tying runners aboard.
Senior pitcher Erin Hocker fell to 2-5 on the season with the loss after surrendering three runs and four hits. Sarah Lehman pitched two innings of relief and allowed three hits.
DePaul will close out the weekend at Grizzly Softball Field with a rematch against Seattle on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.
