DePaul Falls To Connecticut 7-3 on Saturday Afternoon

Blue Demons and Huskies wrap up series on Sunday at 10 a.m, CT
STORRS, Conn. — Despite taking a 3-0 lead after the first half inning, DePaul could not hold on to the lead eventually falling to Connecticut 7-3 on Saturday afternoon in game two of the weekend series.
Nicole Sullivan and Kate Polucha accounted for four of DePaul's five hits. Sullivan drove in a pair of runs on a double to center field while Polucha tallied a pair of base hits.
Sarah Lehman went five innings in the circle and surrendered six earned runs on nine hits.
DePaul (11-16, 1-4 BIG EAST) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning. Gutierrez reached on a UConn fielding error before Johnson drew a walk and Polucha sent an infield single to third base to load the bases. Gutierrez scored on a wild pitch that advanced the runners before Sullivan lifted a two-run double to center field.
UConn (17-11, 7-1) responded with a two-run home run in the bottom half of the inning to cut the advantage to 3-2. The Huskies tied the game on a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to center in the bottom of the second.
After a scoreless third inning for both sides, UConn took the lead on a two-run home run from Briana Marcelino in the fourth.
The top of the fifth inning saw a pair of base hits from Johnson and Polucha but neither could be advanced as the runners were stranded on the base paths.
The Husky lead was extended in the fifth with a pair of doubles driving in a run to take a three-run advantage before a DePaul error allowed a second run to score from third to go in front 7-3.
The Blue Demons will close out the series with the Huskies on Sunday, March 27 with first pitch set for 10 a.m. CT from Burrill Family Field.
