Antonijevic Comes Through in Crunch Time

DePaul junior scores winning point Sunday in 4-3 victory over Middle Tennessee
CHICAGO – The scoreboard read: DePaul 3, Middle Tennessee 3 when Lenka Antonijevic took center stage Sunday at XS Tennis Village on the South Side.
The junior from Serbia knew exactly what was on the line.
She kept battling in the all-important first set, eventually prevailing 7-6(7-2) over Mukan Gupta at No. 2 singles.
Gupta bounced back with a 6-2 decision in set No. 2. In the final set to decide the match outcome, Antonijevic came away with a 6-4 result in DePaul's 4-3 victory.
The Blue Demons (5-4) grabbed an early 1-0 lead when Hristina Djokic and Marija Jovicic at No. 2 doubles and the No. 3 tandem of Eleanor Nobbs/Valentina Martin emerged victorious in securing the doubles point.
Jovicic upped the lead to 2-0 after a 6-3, 6-2 win over Lee Barnard at No. 1 singles.
Middle Tennessee (9-9) got on the board after winning No. 5 singles, but Eleanor Nobbs brought her team to the brink of a match win after defeating Zani Barnard 7-6(7-3), 2-6, 6-3 in the No. 3 slot.
That's when things got a little dicey for coach Marisa Arce and her team. The Blue Raiders rallied to win at No. 6 and No. 4 to pull even at 3-3.
Arce and her players are off for a couple weeks, returning to action March 22 at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles.
