Tonejc Wins Fourth BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week Award

Most singles awards in the conference for men's tennis this season
CHICAGO – Vito Tonejc is building a strong case to repeat as BIG EAST Player of the Year.
DePaul's No. 1 singles standout won his fourth BIG EAST Singles Player of the Week Award on Wednesday. He also won a Doubles Team of the Week award along with Marino Jakic earlier this season---giving him five weekly awards in total.
No individual in the league has brought home more Singles Player of the Week awards in men's tennis this season than the junior from Zagreb, Croatia.
Tonejc won his latest honor on the strength of a 6-3, 6-7 (9-11), 6-4 victory last Saturday at XS Tennis Village over Xavier's Diego Nava who was ranked No. 63 in the nation. It was his second triumph over a nationally ranked opponent and sparked DePaul to a 6-1 BIG EAST win.
In the dual-match season, Tonejc has compiled a remarkable 18-3 record in which he won his first 10 matches. He is undefeated in BIG EAST matches at 5-0 and is 26-9 overall.
Winning eight of his last 10 matches, Tonejc will lead the second-seeded Blue Demons into Friday's BIG EAST Quarterfinals against No. 7 Creighton in Cayce, S.C.
