CHICAGO - DePaul Track & Field is ready for a weekend of fierce competition in Storrs, CT at the 2022 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships. Events begin on Friday at 9:00 am CT at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.
DePaul gears up for the conference championships after the Blue Demon men finished runner-up at the BIG EAST Indoor meet back in February. The Blue Demon women also fought at the top end of the conference, turning in a third-place team finish.
Billie Martin and Casey Mulvey will be kicking off the action in the first event of the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships, the hammer throw. Nina Amicon will be back racing in the 1500m after an event win at the Billy Hayes Invitational and hitting a new personal best of 4:33.70. Olivia Borowiak will be on the track running in the 5000m after breaking a DePaul school record in the 1500m last weekend.
For the men, Ben Litwin, Alex Bernstein and Tommy Goggin will be competing in the hammer throw. Litwin was named BIG EAST athlete of the week last week, becoming the first DePaul Track & Field athlete to earn the recognition during the 2022 outdoor season. On the oval, Darius Brown will be competing in the 110m hurdles. Brown holds the DePaul record for this event with a time of 14.07. Later on in the evening, Ryan Taylor will be running the 3000m steeplechase, after hitting a new personal record in the event last weekend.
