DePaul Claims Three BIG EAST Titles to Wrap up Outdoor Championships

DePaul wins men's shot put, 400m and 4x100 relay
STORRS, Conn. - DePaul track and field wrapped up the 2022 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships by claiming three conference titles on Saturday afternoon in Storrs, Conn. The Blue Demons raced to the men's 4x100m title, Jason Montano claimed the shot put crown, and Jarel Terry won the men's 400m dash.
As a team, the Blue Demon men posted a fifth-place team finish while the DePaul women came in seventh. With the conclusion of the conference championship meet, the Blue Demons will now send qualifiers to the NCAA West Prelims later this month, hosted by the University of Arkansas.
On the track for the men, Jarel Terry raced to the 400m dash victory, claiming gold for DePaul. Dominic Cole also had an impressive afternoon, claiming a third-place finish in the 200m dash, running a 21.62. Cole also finished second in the 100m dash with a 10.71. Cole anchored the Blue Demons' title-winning 4x100m dash squad, closing out the relay with the help of Myles Marshall, Michael Stanley and Cameron Attucks.
In the field events, Jason Montano was the highlight, claiming gold in the shot put with a throw of 16.57m. Meanwhile, Ben Litwin finished fourth with a distance of 15.29m.
For the Blue Demon women, the 4x100m relay squad found their way onto the podium, finishing third with a time of 45.96. The quartet of Esther Aldana, Kiersten Walker, Maia Mays and Tori Carroll raced to claim the bronze. Isabel Ingram also earned a bronze medal for her performance in the 100m hurdles, running a 13.83.
DePaul will await official qualifications for the NCAA Prelims meet and will be sending student athletes to Fayetteville, Ark. to compete from May 25-28.
