Blue Demons drop 2022 Debut at Wish Field
CHICAGO -- DePaul women's soccer fell to Oakland 1-0 in their first regular season match on Thursday, August 18 at Wish Field.
The two sides went back and forth for the first 45 minutes of action, settling into the first match of the season. DePaul goalkeeper Mollie Erikson was tested early as the Golden Grizzlies fired 10 shots in the first half. Oakland held the edge in the attacking third, but DePaul fended off their chances and the two teams went into halftime knotted 0-0.
Oakland (1-0) pushed the Blue Demon's back line and broke through in the 54th minute with a goal from Jayna Fraser in the bottom right corner, putting the Grizzlies in the lead. The teams continued to go back and forth before the Blue Demons turned up the pressure in the final 10 minutes but weren't able to respond.
Katie Godden led the attack for DePaul, with three shots including one on goal.
DePaul is set to play Arkansas at Razorback Field on Sunday, Aug. 22 with first touch slated for Noon CT. with coverage on SEC Network+.
