DePaul women’s soccer falls to Xavier 2-1
CINCINNATI, Ohio – DePaul women's soccer was held off by Xavier 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. The two teams were tied at the end of the first half, 1-1. The Musketeers were able to break the draw within the first minute of the last 45 to take the lead.Â

The Blue Demons leave Cincinnati with a 0-2 conference record, while Xavier continues their 2-0 conference winning streak.Â

Xavier got off to an early start in the first half of the game. At the 11-minute mark the Musketeers got on the board after finding the back of the net.  Three minutes later, Katie Godden passed the ball to Susie Soderstrom who completed her third goal of the season to tie the game. The two teams continued to go back and forth for the remainder of the half.Â

In the second half Xavier attacked the net, sinking in the tiebreaker within the 45th minute. The musketeers kept DePaul busy on defense for the remainder of the game, putting up ten shots within the last 45 alone. Defenders Grace Phillpotts, Sydney Parker and Olivia Beam would not let anyone past the backline. Goalkeeper Mollie Eriksson played great defense at the net, tallying five saves against Xavier's seven shots on goal. The Blue Demons continued to fight hard but could not find a connection before the end of the match.Â
