DePaul Hits the Road for BIG EAST Battle at Xavier

Blue Demons meet Musketeers at 1 p.m. CT on FloHoops
CINCINNATI, Ohio – DePaul women's basketball hits the road for the first time in over a month when the Blue Demons visit the Cintas Center on Saturday, Jan. 14 for a BIG EAST clash with Xavier. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m. CT with Mike Schmaltz and Paul Fritschner covering the action on the BIG EAST Digital Network carried on FloHoops.
About DePaul
The Blue Demons will look to halt a three-game skid when taking the floor on Saturday afternoon. After beginning the BIG EAST slate 3-0 DePaul has dropped three in a row including a pair of ranked matchups against then-No. 21 Creighton and No. 25 Villanova.
All-American forward Aneesah Morrow has led the way all-season long with 26.2 points per game and 12.0 rebounds per game. Morrow has her fingerprints all over the NCAA statistical charts ranking fourth in scoring (446), fourth in rebounds (204), second in field goals (181), and 15th in steals (48). The sophomore's 13 double-doubles this season is good for third in Division I.
Darrione Rogers has made a big jump from a season ago, averaging 18.0 points per game which is fourth in the league while handing out 5.0 assists per game (third) and remaining consistent from the free-throw line at an 85-percent clip.
Kendall Holmes is shooting 41-percent from long distance and averaging 9.9 points per game while Anaya Peoples is doing a little bit of everything with 9.4 points per contest to go with 6.5 boards. Last time out, the Danville, Ill. native collected a season-high four steals, grabbed 10 rebounds, and netted six points. Peoples has collected at least five rebounds in 13 of 17 games this season.
Jorie Allen bolsters the front court averaging 7.6 points and 6.1 rebounds while shooting a team-best 56-percent from the field.
DePaul (10-7, 3-3) leads the BIG EAST in rebounds per game at 42.4 including 16.1 a game on the offensive end of the floor which ranks 9th in Division I. The Blue Demons pace the league in steals at 9.3 takeaways a game.

The Musketeers enter Saturday's matinee 7-10 on the season and 0-8 in BIG EAST action having most recently fell to Providence 64-50 on Wednesday, Jan. 11.
Junior guard Mackayla Scarlett has been the catalyst for the Xavier offense with 12.4 points per game to go along with a team-high 48 assists this season. Taylor Smith joins Scarlett in double figures with 10.7 points per game while five Musketeers are averaging four or more rebounds.
As a team, Xavier is second in the BIG EAST in blocks per game at 4.5 rejections.
Melanie Moore is in her fourth season leading the Xavier program and holds a record of 24-68.
The Series
Saturday marks the 25th all-time meeting between the two teams with the Blue Demons holding a 23-1 edge dating back to the first matchup in January of 1984.
DePaul has won 23 games in a row including 17 BIG EAST matchups since the Musketeers joined the league prior to the 2013-2014 season. In true road meetings, the Blue Demons are 10-1.
