Aneesah Morrow Selected to Midseason Top 25 Wooden Award Watch List

Sophomore forward up for prestigious Player of the Year Award
LOS ANGELES, Calif – DePaul sophomore Aneesah Morrow was selected to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 Watch List as announced by the Los Angeles Athletic Club on Wednesday evening. A panel of national college basketball experts trimmed down the preseason list of 50 to 25 based on student-athlete performances in the 2022-23 season thus far.
Morrow has shined bright in her second year donning the scarlet and blue, averaging 26.3 points per game to rank fourth in the nation while collecting 11.9 rebounds per game which is good for seventh. Her 11 double-doubles this season is third in Division I.
Earlier in December, Morrow broke the DePaul single-game scoring record that stood for nearly 31 seasons with a 45-point performance against Northwestern. In the same game, she surpassed 1,000 career points in her 43rd career game – the second fastest in program history and 13th fastest of any woman in NCAA history.
Through 48 games, the Chicago native has scored 1,116 points and collected 635 rebounds and continues to climb DePaul's career ranks, sitting at 38th in scoring and 17 boards from cracking the top-15. Morrow's 38 double-doubles is good for 12th among active players.
A season ago, Morrow was named to the Wooden National Ballot and the lone freshman among the nation's top-15 players.
Morrow is joined on the list by Azzi Fudd and Aaliyah Edwards of Connecticut as well as Maddy Siegrist of Villanova.
The players on the list are considered strong candidates for the 2023 John R. Wooden Award Women's Player of the Year presented by Wendy's. Players not chosen to the preseason or midseason list are still eligible for the Wooden Award™ National Ballot.
The National Ballot consists of 15 top players who have proven to their universities that they meet or exceed the qualifications of the Wooden Award. Voters will rank in order 10 of those 15 players when voting opens prior to the NCAA Tournament and will allow voters to take into consideration performance during early round games.
The Wooden Award All American Team™ will be announced the week of the "Elite Eight" round of the NCAA Tournament. The winner of the 2023 John R. Wooden Award will be presented by Wendy's following the NCAA Tournament in April.
