Three Blue Demons earn first singles win of tournament
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – DePaul men's tennis kicked off an exciting second round of singles at Notre Dame's Mini-Dual Invite Saturday morning. Jona Gitschel and Leon Huck both earned victories against their opponents.
In the afternoon, Laurentiu Mandocescu, who secured DePaul's sole victory in the third round of singles, fought off Notre Dame's Brian Bilsey in a straight-set win, 6-4, 6-3.
Gitschel, Huck, and Mandocescu all sealed their first singles win on day two of the tournament.
In doubles, Huck and Mandocescu continued their winning streak, notching their third consecutive victory of the weekend in South Bend. The dynamic duo took down Notre Dame's Bilsey/Becker by a score of 6-4.
As action continues on day three, the fourth round of doubles kicks off at 9 A.M. CST. Pairs Matteo Iaquinto/Sven Moser and Huck/Mandocescu will both open Sunday with matches against Notre Dame.
