CHICAGO – DePaul welcomes a former conference foe in Louisville to Wintrust Arena, Saturday afternoon. The Blue Demons will tip off against the Cardinals at 1 p.m. on FS1 with Eric Collins and Dickey Simpkins on the call. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have the radio call on 670 The Score.
Saturday's game marks the return game of a home-and-home series between the two programs that was first played in 2021. DePaul won the 2021 matchup, 62-55.
SCOUTING DEPAUL
DePaul dropped its first true road contest of the season in its midweek matchup against #21 Texas A&M. The Blue Demons weren't able to overcome a strong offensive first half by the Aggies, despite DePaul shooting a season-high 54.8 percent from the floor.
Chico Carter Jr. continues to lead DePaul offensively, as he is averaging 16.2 points and 5.2 assists per game across the team's last five outings. Carter Jr. also ranks second among all active Division 1 players with a career 44.0 three-point percentage.
Jeremiah Oden and Da'Sean Nelson are also averaging double-digit scoring on the season with 12.0 and 10.6 points per game, respectively.
THE SERIES
Louisville leads the all-time series 38-22 and has a 17-12 record in Chicago. DePaul last won at home against the Cardinals in 2003, which was also the last time the Blue Demons won consecutive games in the series.
SCOUTING LOUISVILLE
Louisville enters Saturday's matchup with a 4-4 record, including a loss in their first ACC conference game to Virginia Tech last week. Kenny Payne is in his second year at the helm of the Cardinals after two seasons with the New York Knicks. Louisville has five games this season decided by single-digits, including two one-point decisions.
The Cardinals are led by Illinois transfer, Skyy Clark, who has a team-high 17.3 points per game. Brandon Huntley-Hatfield also leads the team with 9.0 rebounds per game, which ranks top-50 nationally.
