Terry Breaks School Record, DePaul Closes Out Blue Demon Holiday Invite with 12 First Place Finishes

The Blue Demons complete their first meet at Gatley Park this season
CHICAGO – DePaul track and field closed out their third annual Blue Demon Holiday Invite, Friday night. DePaul had a successful day at Gatley Park with Jarel Terry earning gold and breaking his previous school record in the men's 300m. In addition to Terry, 11 other Blue Demons claimed first place finishes.
The meet kicked off with some field events at 2 p.m. CT. Billie Martin earned a second consecutive first place mark in the women's weight throw with a distance of 19.48m. On the men's side Alex Bernstein also took gold in the weight throw earning a new personal best of 20.21m.
On the oval, Nadja Mall claimed gold in the women's 400m with a final time of 56.60 and freshman Daniel Fasasi earned his first gold medal as a Blue Demon in the men's 400m with a final time of 49.22. Freshman Claire Dunn also placed first in her event with a final time of 39.29 in the women's 300m.
Paul Goins also earned his first, first place finish while also making his debut as a Blue Demon in the men's 60m hurdles with a final time of 8.13. Myles Marshall followed close behind with a second place finish and a final time of 8.14.
In the women's shot put DePaul swept the top-five finishes with newcomer Kash Allen claiming her first career gold medal in the event with a final mark of 14.36m. Noelle Malkamaki, Jessica Beckman, Kindle Miles and Kylee Stammer took second, third, fourth and fifth place respectively.
Ian Cox was the lone Blue Demon to compete in the men's shot put coming out on top with a first place finish and a final mark of 13.56m.
Back on the oval the Blue Demons had some very close competitions with one another. In the highly anticipated men's 300m race starring Darius Brown and Terry, Terry took first with his school record breaking performance of 34.057 with Brown crossing the finish line just milliseconds behind with a final time of 34.060.
In the men's 60m, Cameron Attucks also had Myles Marshall by a few milliseconds claiming first with a time of 6.793 and Myles taking silver with a 6.799 final time.
To round out the day, both men's and women's 4x400m relays had stellar performances. The women took off first, with Lauren Pacsi, Dunn, Nadja Moll and Kayliah Motes earning gold with a final time of 3:53.85. Brown and Terry teamed up with Fasasi and Charles Lewis to take down their opponents with a final time of 3:16.29 claiming the final first place finish of the meet.
