Blue Demons Drop Match to Rockets

CHICAGO – The DePaul women's tennis team (1-5) dropped its home opener match against the Toledo Rockets (7-1) on Saturday, 0-7.

The Rockets gained an early 1-0 lead after winning the doubles point. Yuliya Kizelbasheva and Lenka Antonijevic won their No. 1 doubles matchup against Mariona Perez and Sloane Teske, 6-4. The following doubles courts finish just moments behind each other to give Toledo the advantage.

Kizelbasheva got out to a hot start in singles play, earning a 6-3 win in the No. 1 spot. Toledo's Cassie Alcala came back and won the matchup in three.

Greta Carbone traded 6-3 wins in the No. 6 singles spot with Toledo's Kuszynski, but was unable to win the final set and fell 10-7.

UP NEXT: The DePaul women's tennis team will welcome Kansas State and Butler to Chicago next weekend. The Blue Demons will host K-State on Friday and Butler on Sunday at the College Park Athletic Club in Deerfield, Ill. Friday's matchup is set to begin at 7 p.m.
