Women’s Tennis Wins Fifth Straight

Blue Demons take down Creighton on Sunday afternoon
OMAHA, Neb. – The DePaul women's tennis team won their fifth-straight match on Sunday after a 5-1 victory over Creighton (8-2, 1-1 BIG EAST). The Blue Demons moved to 6-5 overall and 2-0 in conference play in the 2023 season.
DePaul got out to an early 1-0 lead after winning the doubles point. Despite falling in the first match, the No. 1 and 2 courts were able to follow up with victories. The duo of Lenka Antonijevic and Eleanor Nobbs has gone 3-0 since pairing up last weekend on the No. 1 court.
In singles play, Maddie Yergler started off a hot streak for the Blue Demons when she defeated Kongara in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. Hannah Smith earned the third point for DePaul after winning in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.
Valentina Martin secured the winning point after a 6-1 decision in the tiebreaker set over Creighton's Kendall on the No. 5 courts. Eleanor Nobbs moved to 4-4 on the season after earning a win after splitting sets against Martinez.
UP NEXT: DePaul will be back at home next weekend to host two matches. The matchup against Drake is set for Friday, March 3 and is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
