DePaul Golf Completes BIG EAST Match Play

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The DePaul golf team opened up the spring portion of its 2022-23 schedule in West Palm Beach, Fla. in BIG EAST Match Play. DePaul played three separate matches against St. John's, UConn and Butler.

In the opening matchup against St. John's, Aarjav Patel took the first win for DePaul with a two-stroke advantage. Billy Gneiser secured the Blue Demons other victory in the sixth spot. Alex Vekich tied his St. John's foe, while the Red Storm took the final four for the match win.

Against the Huskies, DePaul won their No. 3, 4 and 5 matchup. Cameron Karney took a five-stroke win followed by a six-stroke win from Artemiy Yalovenko. After tying his first duel opponent, Vekich came away with a two-stroke win in his match against UConn.

In the team's final round Tuesday morning, DePaul was narrowly defeated by Butler in a 4-2-1 final score. Gneiser won his round to tie the duel at 1-1 after he shot three strokes under his opponent. Conor Glennon picked up his individual duel win, before Noah Kolar's ended in a tie.

DePaul continues it spring schedule next week at the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate, Feb. 12-14. The event, hosted by UNCG, will take place at Hammock Creek Golf Club in Palm City, Fla.
