Aneesah Morrow Named to Naismith Player of the Year Midseason Team

DePaul sophomore forward among 30 contenders to earn coveted player of the year trophy
ATLANTA – Aneesah Morrow is one of 30 Division I women's basketball players selected to the Jersey Mike's Naismith Player of the Year Midseason Team as announced Tuesday afternoon by the Atlanta Tip-Off Club.
The sophomore forward adds to her already decorated list of accolades of late which include Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Top 10, Wooden Player of the Year Late Season Top 20 and Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year Top 10.
Through 23 games this season, Morrow is averaging 25.6 points per game which ranks fourth in the nation while grabbing 11.6 boards a contest which is good for eighth in Division I. Her 18 double doubles this season stands at fourth in the country. In BIG EAST contests, Morrow is second in the league in scoring (26.0 ppg), while leading the way in rebounding (11.8 pg) and steals (2.7 spg).
In just 56 career games, the Chicago native has poured in 1,310 points while grabbing 723 rebounds and is rapidly rising DePaul's career record books. Morrow's points total currently ranks 27th all-time while her rebounding numbers stands at 11th. With 87 career blocks, she is one swat away from cracking the program's top 10.
Morrow is one of just five underclassmen among the nation's elite performers listed on the Midseason Team and is joined by UConn's Aaliyah Edwards and Villanova's Maddy Siegrist.
DePaul returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 8 when Butler visits Wintrust Arena for a 7 p.m. tilt with coverage on FloHoops.
