Darius Brown, Jaiah Hopf Set School Record in Outdoor Track and Field Season Opener

Blue Demons complete first outdoor meet
ORLANDO, Fla. – DePaul track and field completed their first meet of the 2023 outdoor season on Saturday. The Blue Demons earned three top-three finishes throughout their weekend competition.Â
Jaiah Hopf kicked off Saturday's events when she competed in the women's triple jump. Hopf broke the school record with a final distance of 12.59m, which is the third time in which she's broken a school record throughout the 2022-23 season.Â
Darius Brown set a new program record in the men's 110m hurdles race, finishing with a final time of 13.76.Â
On the field, Billie Martin earned a second place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 55.33m. Alex Bernstein followed behind, earning a third place finish in the men's event by throwing a final distance of 61.16m.
The meet concluded with the 100m dash. Jetta Mays and Tori Carroll both finished within top-15 in the women's race while Cameron Attucks earned a ninth place finish on the men's side.
UP NEXT: The Blue Demons will have a slight break in competition before returning to action on Friday, March 31 at the Redbird Invitational hosted by Illinois State.
