DePaul earned a 4-3 win in the nation’s capital
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The DePaul women's tennis team defeated the Georgetown Hoyas, 4-3, on Saturday evening. The win marks the eighth straight for the Blue Demons, a milestone that has not been reached since the 2015 season.Â
DePaul (9-5) held the early advantage after winning the doubles point. Hannah Smith and Greta Carbone won the first doubles matchup of the day on the No. 2 court, defeating Georgetown's Ashton and Coburn, 6-3. Yuliya Kizelbasheva and Lenka Antonijevic earned a 6-4 win on the No. 1 court to gain the point for the Blue Demons.
Hannah Smith earned the second point for DePaul when she earned a straight sets victory over Georgetown's Chloe Bendetti, 6-3, 6-3, on the No. 2 courts. Yuliya Kizelbasheva tallied her second straight win on the No. 1 court after beating Georgetown's Willy 6-4, 7-5.
Lenka Antonijevic clinched the winning point for the Blue Demons on the No. 3 courts when she defeated Mikos in a third set, 6-2. The win was Antonijevic's third straight and moves her to 6-4 during dual play.Â
UP NEXT: The DePaul women's tennis team will head to Tampa, Fla. to take on the University of Southern Florida Bulls. The matchup is set for Saturday, March 25 with first serve at 11 a.m. CT.
