No. 2 DePaul Set to Take on No. 7 Butler in BIG EAST Championship Quarterfinals

Blue Demons meet Bulldogs for second time
CHICAGO - The DePaul women's tennis team (11-9, 6-1 BIG EAST) is set to begin the championship portion of their season on Friday morning as they take on Butler (11-11, 4-2 BIG EAST) in the BIG EAST Championship Quarterfinals.
The Blue Demons were selected as the No. 2 seed in the tournament by the seeding committee, giving the team a bye into the quarterfinal round. In the 2022 season, DePaul was the runner-up of the BIG EAST tournament falling to No. 1 seed Xavier in the championship match.
Earlier in the dual season, DePaul and Butler met in Deerfield, Ill. The Blue Demons were able to sweep the Bulldogs, 7-0, to earn their first conference win of the season.
DePaul was able to get out to a 1-0 lead behind doubles victories from Lenka Antonijevic and Eleanor Nobbs on the No. 1 court, 7-5, and Greta Carbone and Maddie Yergler, 6-4, on the No. 3 court.
In singles play, the Blue Demons were able to win all six courts in straight sets. Eleanor Nobbs went to a tiebreaker in the second set, but defeated Butler's Schurhamer 6-2, 6-6 (7-5).
The team, as a whole, sits at 30-11 overall against conference opponents in singles matchups and 10-7 in doubles play.
The Blue Demons have appeared in eight consecutive BIG EAST title matches and were crowned conference champions in 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2019.
