The Blue Demons head home from Louisville
LOUISVILLE – DePaul track and field completed day two of the Clarke Wood Open hosted by the University of Louisville in Louisville, Ky. on Saturday afternoon. Shane Knanishu's performance proved to be the highlight of the evening after he took first place and set a new record for the Blue Demons in the men's 1500m.
"With the close of the Clark Wood Invitational, our outdoor track & field team concludes its regular season schedule," said Head Coach David Dopek. "It has been a successful one. By evidence of the multiple school records, meet wins, and plethora of personal bests, this team is poised to make some noise in the championship season. Fine tuning and sharpening their preparation will be critical to our championship performances. We are looking forward to getting to Philadelphia for the Big East Champs."
Saturday's slate began with Charlotte Anderson grabbing a first place finish in the javelin throw with a final mark of 43.89m.
In the oval, the women swept the top three finishes in the 1500m. Olivia Borowiak claimed first with a time of 4:27.0, Meghan Dieball followed behind with a time of 4:28.83 to take silver and Nina Amicon came in third with a time of 4:29.91.
Knanishu took home gold in the men's 1500m and broke the school record with a final time of 3:45.16. Damian Rodriguez came in second with a 3:48.74 time.
The Blue Demons continued to dominate on the track. The Men's 4x100m relay consisting of a new quartet featuring Myles Marshall, Charles Lewis, Michael Stanley and Dominic Cole placed second and improved their seasonal best to 40.01.
