DePaul defeated Seton Hall 6-0 on Friday afternoon
CHICAGO – The DePaul women's tennis team got back in the win column on Friday afternoon as they defeated the Seton Hall Pirates, 6-0.Â
In doubles play, the Blue Demons were able to get the early advantage. Lenka Antonijevic and Yuliya Kizelbasheva defeated Seton Hall's Arina Gumerova and Aina Plana Ventosa, 6-1, to get the first point of the match.
As singles play began, Seton Hall forfeited on the No. 5 and No. 6 courts, giving DePaul a 3-0 lead.
As the final four singles matches went on, Valentina Martin clinched the win on the No. 4 court. Martin defeated O'Donovan in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2. Hannah Smith finished second, earning a 6-2, 6-3 win over Moen. Smith moves to 8-8 overall in dual play and 5-1 against BIG EAST opponents.
Yuliya Kizelbasheva won the final match of the afternoon, earning the sixth and final point of the match. Kizelbasheva took down Kempinski in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.
UP NEXT: The DePaul women's tennis team will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, April 8 when they take on the St. John's Red Storm. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m. from XS Tennis Village.
