DePaul earns 4-3 win over St. John’s
CHICAGO – The DePaul women's tennis team earned a 4-3 win on Senior Day over the St. John's Red Storm on Saturday afternoon.Â
St. John's won the first point of the game, dominating doubles play. The Blue Demons fell on the No. 1 and 2 courts, but Hannah Smith and Valentina Martin were up 6-5 on the No. 3 court when their match was suspended.Â
Yuliya Kizelbasheva was able to earn the first DePaul point of the afternoon when she took down St. John's Devarakonda on the No. 1 court in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. Lenka Antonijevic snagged the second Blue Demon point on a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Breunich on the No.4 court.
Valentina Martin earned the third point for DePaul when she defeated Nielsen in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. The decisive fourth point came from the No. 6 court when Maddie Yergler took down Haakansson in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.
All three graduating seniors, Lenka Antonijevic, Valentina Martin and Maddie Yergler notched wins in their final DePaul regular season home match.Â
UP NEXT: The Blue Demons will be back in action on Friday, April 14 when they visit UIC. The match will be held at UIC Outdoor Courts and is set to begin at 10 a.m.
