Blue Demons land former UCLA forward
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball head coach Doug Bruno announced the signing of UCLA graduate transfer Brynn Masikewich to the program on Friday. A 6-3 forward from Calgary, Alberta, Masikewich has signed her national letter of intent (NLI) and will join the Blue Demons in Chicago this summer.
Masikewich spent four seasons in Westwood, appearing in 33 games and making one start while battling through injuries in her sophomore and junior campaigns. The 2022-23 season saw Masikewich in action in 24 games off the bench for a Bruins team that advanced to the Sweet 16.
Prior to her time at UCLA, Masikewich was a four-star recruit out of Lincoln Prep where she earned OSBA First Team All-Star honors in her junior and senior campaigns. A two-time participant in the in the BioSteel All-Canadian game, Masikewich tallied averages of 14.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists as a senior. Internationally, Masikewich has spent time with Team Canada, representing her country at the FIBA U19 World Cup in Thailand.
Bruno on Masikewich: Brynn Masikewich brings a Pac-12 experienced and versatile 6-3 stretch-game to our DePaul program. Brynn can shoot the three, post up and is excellent in the ball-screen game along with her proven ability to rebound. Competing in Canada's national team trials this summer will provide additional veteran experience to her game. As with all of our transfer portal newcomers, we recruited Brynn hard out of high school so we have a previous relationship with her and her family We are thrilled with Brynn's decision to compete at DePaul!
Masikewich on DePaul: I chose DePaul because of its long-standing legacy and how the program continues to establish itself heading into the future. I am excited to continue learning under the amazing coaching staff and look forward to their help as I continue to expand on my game. I am planning on studying communications and media arts which is a passion of mine outside of basketball. I'm excited to develop lifelong friendships with my teammates and being part of the city culture and environment that Chicago has to offer.
Masikewich joins newcomers Grace Carstensen, Kate Clarke, Sumer Lee, Shakara McCline, Charlece Ohiaeri and Michelle Sidor who have all signed with the Blue Demons this spring.
