Blue Demons and Hawkeyes meet on Oct. 15 to benefit Stead Family Children’s Hospital
CHICAGO – DePaul women's basketball is set to play an outdoor exhibition against Iowa on October 15 at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, the two programs announced on Thursday. The "Crossover at Kinnick" is set to benefit the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.
Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m. with coverage streamed live on B1G+ for subscribers.
"So much for closed door scrimmages. We are thrilled to be able to play Iowa, the reigning national runner-ups in a game for charity inside Kinnick Stadium. The opportunity to compete against Caitlin Clark, one of the best players in the country, will be a great test for our team" said head coach Doug Bruno, heading into his 38th season leading the program.
"Anyone who has ever watched an Iowa football game knows that Stead Family Children's Hospital overlooks the stadium and the ability to raise money for these children who have needs is just an awesome opportunity for our players. All intercollegiate athletes at every level, in every sport, should always be counting their blessings and thanking God every day for the blessing of health."
The Blue Demons return five student-athletes from a season ago including mainstays in the lineup Anaya Peoples and Jorie Allen. Bruno and his staff welcomed in eight newcomers this summer including veteran transfers Katlyn Gilbert (Missouri), Brynn Masikewich (UCLA) and Michelle Sidor (Michigan) alongside Kate Clarke (Michigan) and four freshmen.
Tickets for the general public are set to go on sale on Thursday, August 17 with a limited number of Rain or Shine tickets to be sold at $20 that will allow fans to attend the event at Kinnick Stadium or Carver-Hawkeye Arena in case weather forces the game to be played indoors. Kinnick only reserved seat tickets will be $10 for adults, and $5 for students, and youth (age 18-and-under).
If the Crossover at Kinnick event is moved to Carver-Hawkeye Arena due to inclement weather, Iowa Athletics will accommodate only those who purchased a $20 Rain or Shine event ticket.
The Blue Demons will open their 2023-24 regular season slate on Nov. 6 when Western Michigan visits Wintrust Arena.
