Blue Demons to play eight regular season home games at Wintrust Arena
CHICAGO – The DePaul women's basketball team announced its non-conference schedule for the 2023-24 season on Thursday. The Blue Demons are set to face at least four 20-win teams from a season ago including a pair of Elite Eight participants in Louisville and Miami, while hosting eight regular-season games at Wintrust Arena.
"Non-conference time is challenged team time. Throughout our years at DePaul, we have always believed in challenging our teams with a rugged non-conference schedule. This year is no exception" said head coach Doug Bruno. "Scheduled opponents Louisville, Michigan State, Green Bay, Miami and Northwestern in addition to the three very difficult opponents coming out of the Battle 4 Atlantis will make this year's schedule a super test for our freshly assembled roster."
The Blue Demons are set to tipoff their 50th varsity season on November 6 when Western Michigan travels to the South Loop for the third all-time meeting between the two programs and first since 2000.Three days later on Nov. 9, DePaul will host Stonehill College out of the Northeast Conference the first matchup among the two sides.
DePaul will face its first true road test on Nov. 12 with a visit to the KFC Yum! Center to meet Louisville who is coming off a 26-12 campaign and a trip to the Elite Eight.
The weekend before Thanksgiving will see the Blue Demons compete in the 2023 Battle 4 Atlantis, Nov. 18-20, with three games in Paradise Island, Bahamas against a competitive field including Arizona, Michigan, Middle Tennessee State, Ole Miss, South Dakota, Howard and Memphis. Tournament matchups and broadcast information for the event is still to be announced.
Upon return from the holiday, the Blue Demons will host longtime rival Loyola on Nov. 26 before welcoming Michigan State to Wintrust Arena on Nov. 30 for the first game of a home-and-home series.
On Dec. 5, former North Star conference rivals will collide as Green Bay will make the trip to Chicago for the 21st all-time meeting between the two sides.
The second weekend in December will see DePaul travel south to meet Miami in what will be the first matchup in the Sunshine State between the two teams. The Blue Demons and Hurricanes are set to square off from the Watsco Center on Friday, Dec. 8. Kate Meier and her 2022-23 team went 22-13 and advanced to the Elite Eight before falling to eventual National Champions, LSU.
Old foes will square off once again on Dec. 13 as Northwestern will descend upon Wintrust Arena for the 40th all-time meeting between the two programs.
The Blue Demons will close out the non-conference slate with a pair of games at home against Alabama State (Dec. 17) and Alcorn State (Dec. 28).
