Scholz leads the team in blocks, while Pressly earns 10 kills
MILWAUKEE, WIS. - DePaul volleyball dropped a three-set match to Milwaukee (15-25, 20-25, 22-25), Tuesday night.
DePaul was led by Jill Pressly who tallied 10 kills and 11 digs for the 36th double-double of her career. Current BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, Meghan Scholz picked right back up from where she left off, tallying six blocks and four kills.Â
Audrey Klemp and Bailey Nelson poured in seven and six kills, respectively. Four Blue Demons tallied two blocks each, earning a total of eight blocks throughout the match.
"Every match for us this year is a separate chapter where we learn a unique lesson," said head coach Marie Zidek. "Today was chapter nine versus Milwaukee. Milwaukee exposed us in ways that will soon become our strengths. They put a motor and pace into transition that we have yet to see, maybe besides South Dakota. They did so with attackers that fixed balls and found kills all over the court. Our defense finally caught up but our offense was so disrupted by their defensive scheme and serve that we could not find the kills we typically find off edges of the block and line. When we finally made it to the red zone, we didn't execute the scout effectively. This was a lesson of a team now having multiple matches to study your game and putting together a good scheme with us just not able to hold onto our games because of it. The silver lining is that this was match nine of 29 guaranteed opportunities this year. If we hold onto this loss, let it hurt, and learn from this, there's no limit to where we can go as a group. The only way is through together."
Milwaukee was led by Ari Miller with 12 kills.Â
