Pressly and Klemp total 25 kills
CHICAGO - DePaul volleyball took down UIC 3-1 (25-17, 25-21, 13-25, 25-20), Saturday night, in the final non-conference matchup of the season. The Blue Demons have won seven of their last eight matches.Â
DePaul (7-4) was led by Jill Pressly who had 13 kills, her ninth straight match in double-digits. Audrey Klemp poured in 12 kills of her own on a hitting percentage of .450.
The team totaled 11 blocks on the night as Meghan Scholz and Katelynn Oxley earned five each. The Blue Demons also saw five service aces, two of which came from Ashley Cudiamat.
Reigning BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, Scholz tallied five blocks and six kills. Scholz is averaging 1.4 blocks per set this season. Sophomore Maggie Jones had 22 assists on the night.
"Gritty win versus a really talented UIC team," said head coach Marie ZIdek. "We came out with a different game plan than previous years and executed it very well to disrupt their rhythm early. Our serve game held strong and we rebounded well after a tough third set to close out a very successful weekend. Excited to roll into league play with some momentum."
UIC (9-4) was led by Martina Delucchi with 21 kills.
