
Women’s Tennis Opens Dual Season in Florida

Blue Demons face Florida Gulf Coast, Florida International in season-opening weekend
CHICAGO – DePaul women's tennis opens the 2024 dual season this weekend with a trip to the Sunshine State for a pair of matches against Florida Gulf Coast and Florida International.
Head coach Marisa Arce, in her fifth season leading the program, and the Blue Demons will begin the spring campaign in Fort Myers against the Eagles of Florida Gulf Coast on Friday, Jan. 12 with first serve set for 12 p.m. CST. Live results from the FGCU Tennis Complex can be found here.
After Friday's match, DePaul will head Southeast to Miami for a match with Florida International on Monday, Jan. 15. Start time is slated for 11 a.m. CST on the FIU Tennis Courts.
The Blue Demons look to carry their momentum from the fall slate with senior Greta Carbone and freshman Sasha Stula each notching six singles victories. In doubles action, Carbone and Hannah Smith posted a 9-3 mark in the fall including a run to the quarterfinals in the ITA Midwest Regionals. The tandem of Eva Goncharov/ and Eleanor Nobbs went 6-1 while winning their last four matches in tournament play.
DePaul amassed a 12-10 record in 2023 highlighted by a victory over then-No. 40 Iowa before advancing to the BIG EAST Semifinals.
A season ago, Florida Gulf Coast posted a 16-7 mark in dual season while appearing in the Atlantic Sun Semifinals. Florida International went 18-5 last spring en route to a Conference USA title and an NCAA Tournament appearance.
Up Next: After wrapping up opening weekend, the Blue Demons will travel to Lincoln, Neb. Jan. 26-27 to take on Nebraska and Harvard.
