Blue Demons Bow Out in Consolation Round at ITA Midwest Regionals

DePaul duo drop opening matches in singles consolation bracket
COLUMBUS, OHIO – Women's tennis junior Hannah Smith and senior Eleanor Nobbs came up short in their respective singles consolation contests at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center on Saturday, Oct. 12.
Nobbs, a Bath, England native faced Shelly Bereznyak of Ohio State at 7:00 a.m. CT. Bereznyak played errorless tennis in the first set defeating Nobbs, 6-0. The Blue Demons' senior battled in the second set, but ultimately fell, 6-3 resulting in Bereznyak winning the match.
In the opening round of singles consolation, Smith matched up against Amelia Gorman (SIUE). The first team All-BIG East selection from a season ago competed in a back-and-forth first set, but Gorman won the edge, 7-5. Smith couldn't get over the hump in set two, losing 6-2.
