17 schools represent in 45th annual race
CHICAGO – DePaul cross country travels three miles north to the Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course for the 45th annual Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational, Friday, Oct. 4. The Blue Demons will compete in the Open Division, with the women's 6k race set to begin at 11:20 a.m. CT, followed by the men's 8k race at 12 p.m. CT.
DePaul enters Friday coming off two top-five team finishes at Notre Dame's National Catholic Championships on Friday, Sept. 20, where they placed fourth in the women's 5k and fifth in the men's 8k. Freshman Tessa Roe led the women's team with a 21st-place finish and a time of 17:56.8. On the men's side, graduate student Damian Rodriguez paced the Blue Demons with a 27th-place finish and a time of 24:49.2.
The Blue Demons last competed in the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational in Sept. 2023, when both the men's and women's teams finished 16th.
DePaul's most recent individual champion at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational was Olivia Borowiak, who ran a 20:52.95 in the women's 6k in 2022, leading the Blue Demons to a fifth-place team finish.
Sixteen schools will participate in the 45th annual Lakefront Invitational, including Alabama, Butler, DePaul, Drake, Duke, Indiana, Louisville, Loyola, Minnesota, NC State, Ohio State, Texas, Toledo, Tulane, UC Davis, Wisconsin, and Cal Poly.
Seven teams competing in the event are ranked in the Top-30 of the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll:
