
Nobbs and Smith to Represent DePaul at ITA Midwest Regionals

British duo pair up for doubles competition; both will take part in singles draws
COLUMBUS, OHIO – DePaul senior Eleanor Nobbs and junior Hannah Smith will compete in the ITA Midwest Regionals hosted by Ohio State from Oct. 10-15.
Smith, slotted in the No. 1 spot for the Blue Demons much of the 2024 dual season, will begin play Friday, Oct. 11 in a 64-player main singles draw. Smith is set to matchup with Sydney
Pratt of Northwestern. The former first team All-BIG EAST selection enters the weekend with a 5-1 singles record during fall tournament play.
As the longest tenured member of the scarlet and blue, Nobbs finished 11-10 and 6-5 on court two during the dual season, a year ago. The Bath, England native was nominated for a spot on the 2024 All-BIG EAST second team roster. The veteran faces Neha Guru of Toledo in the qualifying singles draw on Thursday Oct. 10. The match will occur after conclusion of the 8:00 a.m. CT match prior to their contest.
Both the first and second round qualifying matches will be played Thursday with competition set to start at 8:00 a.m. CT and an expected conclusion around 4:00 p.m. CT. The 48-total matches on day one are expected to be played outdoors at the Auer Tennis Complex. If darkness or inclement weather arises, contests will be moved indoors to the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
Friday, Oct. 11 gets underway with one round of qualifying singles consolation matches. All 16 matchups will be played in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center beginning at 7:00 a.m. CT. Following the consolation singles matches, the first round of singles main draw starts at 8:00 a.m. CT. Nobbs and Smith begin doubles action together on day two. They will take on Northwestern's duo of Pratt/Jessel. The tandem started the fall season on a 3-0 clip including a dominating weekend at the Cincinnati Hidden Duals. Nobbs is a combined 6-0 in doubles action in the first two tournaments. First serve for doubles action is at 1:00 p.m. CT with all 64 singles and doubles main draw matches set to be played at the Auer Tennis Complex.
Another full day of tennis is expected to take place on Saturday, Oct. 12. Day three will open with 16 matches of main draw singles consolation play at 7:00 a.m. CT in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center. Main singles second and third round competition is set for 8:00 a.m. CT and 10:00 a.m. CT, respectively. Doubles action rounds out the afternoon with play getting underway at 12:00 p.m. CT. All 40 non-consolation contests will be outdoors.
Matches heat up on Sunday, Oct. 13 beginning with the remaining matches of third round singles at 8:00 a.m. CT. Singles quarterfinals immediately follow the third round with expected first serve at 10:00 a.m. CT. Quarterfinals for doubles play begin at 12:00 p.m. CT. All matches are expected to be played at the Auer Tennis Complex.
The title is within reach on Monday, Oct. 14. Semifinals for singles competition opens at 9:00 a.m. CT. Main draw doubles semifinals follow at 11:00 a.m. CT at the Auer Tennis Complex.
Championship Tuesday begins Oct. 15 at the Auer Tennis Complex. The singles main draw finals start at 9:00 a.m. CT. The doubles final will begin simultaneously if there are no finalists that are competing in the singles championship. If there are, the doubles final is set to take place at 12:00 p.m. CT.
The two singles finalists and doubles winner have an opportunity to compete in the NCAA Championships Nov. 19-24 in Waco, Texas.
