Blue Demons Secure 31-Point Victory Monday Night

CHICAGO – In another start-to-finish victory, DePaul men's basketball secured its second-straight win by 30 or more points with a 95-64 win Monday night from Wintrust Arena. It marked the first time the Blue Demons have won back-to-back games by a 30-point margin since the 1999-2000 season.
NJ Benson led all scorers with 15 points, including 5-of-6 at the free throw line. Benson was one of five DePaul players in double-digit scoring, while three more athletes notched more than eight points. JJ Traynor notched his first career double-double with a 11-point, 10 rebound performance.
HOW IT HAPPENED
DePaul (3-0) started out the game strong and never wavered, as the Blue Demons quickly took a game opening, 9-2, lead while forcing three Mercer turnovers in the opening minutes. The Bears notched a pair of baskets before DePaul put it away for good on a 15-4 run for a 16-point, 29-13 lead. The advantage continued to grow for DePaul as the team ended the half on a 18-3 run.
Mercer (1-1) had a pair of baskets to open the second half, while forcing some DePaul turnovers, but the Bears were quickly silenced by back-to-back threes by David Skogman and Conor Enright. The Blue Demon offense continued moving with the team's largest lead, 81-42, coming with 10 minutes left to play.

- DePaul's 29 point halftime lead was the largest for the Blue Demons since Dec. 17, 2016.
- DePaul forced 21 turnovers from Mercer, marking the most forced by a DePaul team since Dec. 18, 2019.
- Following 24 assists last Thursday, it is the first time DePaul has had back-to-back 20+ assist games since the 2016-17 season.
- Enright tied his personal-best with eight assists, including five in the first half.
- Blocker recorded a game-high and career-high four steals.
