Blue Demons Battle Green Bay Thursday Night

GREEN BAY, Wis. – DePaul women's basketball returns to the court on Thursday night for a matchup with Green Bay. Tipoff from the Kress Events Center is set for 6 p.m.

Demon Doings
The Blue Demons are 2-2 on the season and are coming off a loss to No. 4 Texas at Winturst Arena on Sunday. Jorie Allen continued her hot start to the season with a career-high 23 points against the Longhorns for her fourth-straight game in double figures to start her final campaign with the Blue Demons.

Allen is averaging a team-high 19.8 points per game for DePaul which ranks fifth amongst BIG EAST players. Her 6.8 rebounds per contest is good for ninth. Shooting the ball well through two weeks, Allen's 53-percent shooting from the field and 88-percent clip from the free-throw line rank for fourth in the conference.

Junior college transfer Taylor Johnson-Matthews is providing an immediate impact with 12.8 points per game.

DePaul has grabbed 13.75 offensive boards per game and turned in 57 second-chance points good for 14.25 a contest.

Thursday's game is the second-straight for DePaul against a 2024 conference tournament champion amidst a stretch of four contests against 2024 NCAA Tournament teams.

Entering the third week of the season, Green Bay is 2-2 with victories over UIC and North Dakota. Seniors Maddy Schreiber and Natalie McNeal lead the offense with 12.8 points and 12.5 points per game, respectively.

The Phoenix were selected to finish second in the Horizon League Preseason Coaches Poll, receiving four first-place votes behind Cleveland State. Green Bay returns its top seven scorers from last season's team that won its first conference championship in six seasons while amassing a 27-5 record.Â

Kayla Karius, a 2011 Green Bay alumna, is in her first season leading her alma mater after spending two seasons at the helm of the South Dakota program. Longtime head coach Kevin Borseth retired in April after 21 seasons.

Thursday's matchup will be the 22nd all-time meeting between the two programs. DePaul owns the series 15-6 and have won the last four matchups.

A season ago, the Blue Demons earned a 68-64 over the Phoenix at Wintrust Arena. Then-senior guard Anaya Peoples had a team-best 22 points while Jorie Allen added 19 points of her own.

In DePaul's last visit to the Kress Events Center in December of 2019, the Blue Demons erased a nine point first-half deficit by way of a 51-point second half output to claim a 76-65 win.
