CHICAGO – The DePaul men's basketball team is set to host No. 1 ranked UConn, Wednesday, Feb. 14 for an 8 p.m. tip. The game is slated to air on CBS Sports Network with Rich Waltz and Dan Dickau on the call. Zach Zaidman and Dave Corzine will have the DePaul radio broadcast on DePaulBlueDemons.com.
DePaul (3-20, 0-12 BIG EAST) is coming off one game last week where they fell 85-57 on the road to St. John's. The Blue Demons have been fueled in their last several games by senior Jalen Terry who is averaging 12.0 points across his last six games. Terry enters Wednesday's game with a stretch of 12 consecutive games with a made three-pointer and is shooting 50.0 percent from deep in conference action.
UConn (22-2, 12-1 BIG EAST) comes into Wintrust Arena in the midst of a 12-game winning streak, which includes an 85-56 win against DePaul in the first meeting this season. The Huskies rank top-10 nationally in several statistical categories including assist-to-turnover ratio and field goal percentage. Individually, Cam Spencer and Tristen Newton are both averaging 15.2 points per game while Spencer ranks fourth nationally with a 45.2 three-point percentage.
In the Jan. 2 meeting between the Blue Demons and Huskies this season, DePaul was led by 19 points from Da'Sean Nelson and 17 from Elijah Fisher. Nelson is averaging 17.5 points per game in his career against UConn.
The Huskies lead the all-time series 18-1, with DePaul's lone win coming Jan. 31, 2007 in Rosemont where the Blue Demons won, 66-58.
