Brooke Johnson Named BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week

Johnson earns first honor of the season
CHICAGO - DePaul softball senior Brooke Johnson was named the BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week on Monday afternoon, as announced by the conference. This is Johnson's first honor of the season.Â
Johnson went 10-17 this weekend at the Blues City Classic in Memphis, Tenn., earning a batting average of .588 in a 3-2 weekend for the Blue Demons. The fifth-year senior tallied 10 hits, eight runs, six RBIs and one stolen base.Â
The Chino Hills, Calif. native had three home runs during the tournament and her first triple of the season which helped to expand her hit streak to six-straight games. Additionally, Johnson tallied a slugging percentage of 1.235 this weekend and continues to lead the team with a percentage of .933.
UP NEXT
DePaul rounds out the tournament portion of their schedule at the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, Calif. on March 1-3. The Blue Demons will meet #18 Florida, #20 UCLA, #21 Texas A&M, San Jose State and Fresno State.
