DePaul Hosts Providence in Play4Kay Game

Blue Demons and Friars tipoff at 7pm at Wintrust Arena
The Blue Demons will once again partner with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and wear pink on Wednesday in honor of cancer warriors in the fight against all cancers affecting women. Fans can join in on the cause and support life saving cancer research by making a pledge for each DePaul assist in the month of February or making a flat donation here.
Noting the Blue Demons
With seven regular season games remaining, DePaul (11-13, 3-8) is ninth in the BIG EAST standings and looks to string together some positive results after dropping a bitter two-point game on the road at Georgetown on Sunday.
In the low-scoring, scrappy battle DePaul guard Anaya Peoples netted a team-best 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds while dishing out three assists.
Peoples was selected to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the fifth time this season on Monday after averaging 17.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals last week.The graduate guard leads the team in almost every category including points (17.7) and rebounds per game (7.9) which are both top-six in the league.
Katlyn Gilbert is also averaging double figures in conference play with 10.1 points per game in addition to 4.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.4 steals. Her 62 steals on the season is 16th in Division I.
As a team, DePaul is atop the BIG EAST in bench points (20.0 ppg), rebounds (39.3) and steals per game (10.4).
Scouting ProvidenceThe Friars are 11-12 and 5-5 in BIG EAST play and currently sit in sixth in the league standings. Providence has won three of their last four with victories over Butler, Villanova and Xavier before falling to RV/RV Marquette by four on Saturday. Erin Batth, in her first season as head coach, has already guided the Friars past last year's BIG EAST win total of four games.
Oliva Olsen and Grace Efosa have been the guiding force for Providence this season. Olsen is the only player averaging a double-double in league play with 14.5 points and 10.3 rebounds. She ranks second in the league with nine double-doubles this season. Since returning from injury, Efosa is posting 14.0 points and 5.4 rebounds.
Providence is shooting 40-percent from three in conference action which is second in the league while holding opponents to 27.5 percent from deep which is leads the conference.
Series Stuff
The Blue Demons lead the all-time series 29-5 despite an early conference loss to the Friars on Jan. 3. DePaul has never lost to Providence on its home court, going 10-0 at McGrath-Phillips Arena and 6-0 at Wintrust Arena.
In the first meeting this season, the Blue Demons fell behind by 12 at the half and couldn't quite recover despite a fourth-quarter rally. Graduate guards Katlyn Gilbert and Michelle Sidor each recroded career outings with 25 and 19 points, respectively.
