Women’s Basketball Earns WBCA Academic Special Mention

Blue Demons recognized for stellar academic performance
CHICAGO — The DePaul women's basketball program was honored by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on Wednesday with a Team Academic Special Mention as the Blue Demons closed out the 2023-24 academic year with a 3.529 team GPA.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2023-24 season is the 29th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
"The WBCA is pleased to recognize those women's basketball programs that have committed themselves to excellence on the court and in the classroom," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew. "The 112 teams we honor this year strive to achieve all-around success and we commend their efforts. Congratulations!"
This year's release also marks the third year in which all teams which qualified for the top 25 rankings with the minimum 3.0 GPA also are recognized for their academic accomplishment.
Head Coach Doug Bruno's squads have consistently been top in the nation in classroom performance as the Blue Demons have collected WBCA Academic Top 25 recognition on 13 occasions while earning special mention the last three seasons.
DePaul is one of six BIG EAST programs honored joined by Creighton, Georgetown, St. John's, Seton Hall and Villanova. The Blue Demons boast the highest cumulative grade point average across the conference.
