Conference announces honorees for twenty-two varsity sports
CHICAGO – The BIG EAST Conference announced the recipients of the 2023-24 Sport Excellence Award on Monday afternoon. Leon Huck was recognized for his academic and athletic achievements, as well as his volunteer service in the community.
This honor marks Huck's second time earning the award, with his outstanding performance both on and off the court further solidifying his reputation as an exceptional student-athlete.
To be eligible for this award, student-athletes must have attained junior academic standing and a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.00. The winners are selected by the BIG EAST Faculty Athletics Representative Council.
With just one winner in each sports category, Huck represents DePaul as the sole student-athlete recognized for the 2023-24 Sport Excellence Award. Seton Hall led the conference with four honorees, while Xavier and Villanova each had three recipients.
Huck currently holds a 3.628 GPA as a business administration major. In his final year of tennis eligibility, Huck achieved a 14-14 record in singles and 19-10 in doubles, earning his second consecutive Unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team selection.
