Local foes face off at 4 p.m. in Evanston
CHICAGO – DePaul men's soccer continues its stretch of road matches to open the 2024 campaign with a short trip to Evanston, Ill. to face longtime foe Northwestern on Sunday, Aug. 25. First touch from Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium is set for 4 p.m.

- DePaul opened the season on a high note on Thursday evening with a 4-3 win in a crosstown classic against UIC at Flames Field.
- The Flames struck first, but the Blue Demons answered with four-straight goals by four different goal scorers to seal the victory.
- The four goals in the opener is the most in a game since 2016 and the highest total in the Mark Plotkin era.
- The Blue Demons were efficient with their chances, capitalizing on four of seven shots on goal.
- Sophomore forward Keagan Pace had a career outing for the Blue Demons, tallying four points on a goal and two assists.
- Newcomers Logan Finnegan and George Wyatt recorded their first goals in a DePaul uniform while Christian Baumgartner also found the back of the net for the third goal of his career.
- Senior goalkeeper Santiago Davila matched his career-high with five saves.
- Four Blue Demons made their collegiate debuts in the opener including Grant Kelner, Max Padua, Nolan McGuire and Daniel Hickiewicz.
- The Wildcats are 1-0 on the young season after a 2-0 victory over Green Bay on opening night.
- Northwestern dominated in the opener, outmatching the Phoenix 18-4 in shots and 9-2 in corner kicks.
- The Wildcats bring 20 letterwinners back from last season's squad that went 10-4-3 while bringing in nine newcomers.
- In the Big Ten Conference's Preseason Poll, Northwestern was picked to finish eighth while three Wildcats were named preseason players to watch including senior midfielder Colin McCamy who led all returners with eight points in 2023.
- Russell Payne is in his fourth season leading the program in Evanston.
- The two teams square off for the 31st time on Sunday afternoon with the Wildcats holding a 16-11-3 edge over the Blue Demons.
- DePaul is 6-10-2 in road matches in the all-time series.
- The two sides last met in September of 2023 in Lincoln Park in a 1-1 draw. DePaul's Colin Mackey netted the first goal of his career in the 50th minute to gain the advantage before Northwestern clawed its way onto the score-sheet in the 84th minute to equalize the match.
- DePaul will close out its three-match road swing to open the season on Thursday, Aug. 29 with a trip to St. Paul, Minn. to face St. Thomas.
