Blue Demons Drop Season Opener at Notre Dame

DePaul overmatched by Fighting Irish in first match of spring season
SOUTH BEND, IND. – DePaul fell to Notre Dame 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Eck Tennis Pavilion.
The Fighting Irish attacked early, claiming the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. Sophomore Roberta Sechi made her Blue Demon dual season debut in doubles action.
In singles competition, freshman Eleanor Cochran and Isabella Gibson appeared in their first collegiate dual season matches. Gibson fought in the match against Rylie Hanford, but fell 3-6, 1-6. Senior Eleanor Nobbs dominated in set one, 6-1 on court two, however the match wrapped up unfinished. In slot three, Sasha Stula battled in a back-and-forth first set, falling short 6-7. Senior Eva Goncharov lost the opening stanza 2-6 before rebounding to a 5-2 advantage when the match concluded.
