Blue Demons improve to 11-1 all-time against Georgetown

ROCKVILLE, Md. – The Blue Demons tallied a 5-2 win over Georgetown at the Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Maryland on Friday. DePaul collected its first BIG EAST triumph in dual play this season, improving to 11-1 all-time versus the Hoyas.

DePaul faced Georgetown on the road for the first time since 2023 when the Blue Demons came away with a 4-3 victory.

In doubles, the Scarlet and Blue led early, courtesy of senior Eleanor Nobbs and sophomore Roberta Sechi tallying a 6-2 advantage on court two. Sophomore Sasha Stula and freshman Eleanor Cochran followed suit, gaining the 6-4 edge in slot three.

Moving into singles, Stula quickly took down Paige Gilbert (GU) 6-1, 6-1 on court three. Nobbs added a straight-set 6-3, 6-4 victory in slot two, giving DePaul a 3-0 lead. No. 1 singles, Hannah Smith, fell in tight sets, 5-7, 5-7. On court four, senior Eva Goncharov dominated set one, 6-1. The Canadian dropped the next set 3-6, setting up a decisive tiebreaker. Goncharov bounced back, winning 6-3 to clinch the match for the Blue Demons. Cochran finished her match with a straight-set advantage, 6-2, 7-6 (5).
