Demon Doings
DePaul (2-3-5, 0-1-1 BIG EAST) looks to snap a two-game skid on Friday after dropping a 2-0 decision to Creighton last Saturday. Against the Bluejays, the Blue Demons outshot the visitors 12-9 in the second half but couldn't find the back of the net in the conference clash. Noeh Hernandez and Jayden Waski combined for eight of DePaul's 17 shots while Santiago Davila matched his season-high with four saves in his eighth appearance in goal.
The Blue Demons have recorded more shots than its opponents in nine of 10 matches this season and rank 12th in Division I and second in the BIG EAST with 16.4 per match.
DePaul continues its consistency in its pressure in the final third, earning 68 corner kicks while holding opponents to just 35 this fall. In the national rankings, the Blue Demons are 16th in corner kicks per match with an average of 6.80.
Among active players, Noeh Hernandez leads the squad with three goals on the season while Christian Baumgartner and Luca Iaccino have tallied two apiece. Hernandez is fourth in the BIG EAST in shots with 31 this season for an average of 3.1 per contest.
Scouting Butler
Heading into Friday's matchup, the Bulldogs are 2-8 on the season and 0-2 in BIG EAST play. Butler owns a 1-0 win over common opponent Bowling Green as well as a 2-1 triumph against Western Michigan. Aiden Benitez and Sam Pitts-Eckersall each have two goals to their credit to lead the Bulldogs front line. Paul Snape is in his 15th season at the helm in Indianapolis. In the conference's preseason coaches' poll, Butler was picked to finish sixth in the Midwest division. Â
Series Stuff
The two sides clash for the 18th time on Friday afternoon with the Bulldogs leading the series 8-3-6. A season ago, DePaul claimed a 5-3 win at Butler on the final day of the regular season to punch its ticket to the 2024 BIG EAST Tournament. In the victory, four different goal scorers found the back of the net as the squad scored the most goals in a game since 2009.
The last time the two conference foes met in Chicago, they battled to a 1-1 draw in October of 2023.
