DePaul’s Kate Clarke Picked Preseason All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention

Senior guard picks up preseason nod
NEW YORK – DePaul women's basketball's Kate Clarke was named Preseason All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention as announced Tuesday morning prior to the conference's annual basketball media day.
Clarke, a 6-1 senior guard, suits up for the Blue Demons for one final season as the program's top returning scorer from a season ago. The Carmel, Ind., native, in her third season at DePaul, is set to take on a larger leadership role in 2025-26 on a team comprised of seven returners and seven newcomers.
Sidelined with injury for much of last season, Clarke appeared in 11 games and made five starts on the 2024-25 campaign. She averaged 11.9 points per game to finish the season third on the team. Despite limited run, Clarke finished in double figures in seven of her 11 a season ago including a season-best 18 points at Seton Hall Feb. 27. A threat from distance, she knocked down three or more triples in seven games last season.
In her collegiate career, Clarke is shooting 36-percent from three-point range. She has averaged 10.4 points per game in her two seasons with the Blue Demons and boasts 25 outings in double-figure scoring through 57 collegiate appearances.
In the preseason coaches' poll, the Blue Demons were picked to finish eighth by a vote of the 11 head coaches. Connecticut was the unanimous preseason favorite with Marquette and Seton Hall rounding out the top three. UConn swept the preseason awards as sophomore forward Sarah Strong was picked Player of the Year while Kelis Fisher was voted Freshman of the Year.
The Blue Demons will play their lone exhibition matchup of the preseason on Saturday, Oct. 25 when Milwaukee visits Lincoln Park and McGrath-Phillips Arena. Tipoff is set for 7:15 p.m. following Blue Madness which begins at 6 p.m. Admission for both events is free.
DePaul tips off the regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 4 against Valparaiso. Tipoff from Wintrust Arena is scheduled for 6 p.m. with coverage carried on ESPN+.
