QUEENS, N.Y. – DePaul women's soccer wrapped its final road match of the 2025 campaign Saturday evening, falling 2-0 to St. John's at Cox Family Field at Belson Stadium. The Red Storm struck twice in the first half and held off a persistent Blue Demon attack that produced 16 total shots and six corner kicks.
Sophomore goalkeeper Mason Hillery recorded three saves across 90 minutes, while Sienna Gonzales led DePaul (4-12-1, 1-7-1 BIG EAST) with seven shot attempts. Freshman Mackenzie Lee, sophomore Shayna da Silva, and sophomore Tewabech Seerup each registered a shot on goal in the effort.
How It Happened
DePaul's first look came in the third minute as Sienna Gonzales had her early attempt blocked before Katelyn Jamie sent one wide in the sixth. The Red Storm responded moments later when Molly McGlame finished from close range in the ninth minute off an assist from Mia Agresti, giving St. John's an early lead.
DePaul continued to push, with Gonzales firing wide in the 17th and 20th minutes and adding
another blocked effort in the 22nd. Hillery denied McGlame's second attempt in the 12th to keep the match within reach.
St. John's doubled its advantage in the 25th minute when Agresti found the back of the net, assisted by Daniela Monzon and Leana Ruiz. The Blue Demons nearly pulled one back late in the half, as Seerup forced a save from Kayla Bower in the 37th and Lee added another on-target look in the 38th, both turned away by the Red Storm keeper.
DePaul controlled long stretches of the second half, outshooting St. John's 7-2 and earning five corners. da Silva forced a save from Bower in the 55th minute, while Jen Devona added two close-range efforts that were blocked and sent just wide. Tessa Fagerson and Jamie each saw late shots drift past the post, as DePaul's pressure failed to find the breakthrough.
