Gandini voted BIG EAST singles representative; Gandini and Giles tabbed league’s doubles team
CHICAGO – DePaul men's tennis' reigning BIG EAST Player of the Year Alejandro Gandini and standout Thomas Giles have been selected to represent the BIG EAST Conference at the 2025 ITA Conference Masters Championships, taking place Nov. 6-9 at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.
Now in its second year, the ITA Conference Masters serves as one of four ITA-sponsored tournaments that provide a pathway for student-athletes to qualify for the NCAA Division I Individual Championships. Approved as part of a two-year pilot program by the NCAA Division I Competition Oversight Committee, the event features the top singles player and doubles team from each NCAA AQ-eligible conference, with only four singles players (semifinalists) and three doubles teams (champion, finalist, and third-place finishers) advancing to the NCAA Championships. The 2025 edition also marks the tournament's debut on the West Coast.
Voted by the league's coaches, Gandini will compete in singles and team up with Giles in doubles on behalf of the BIG EAST and DePaul. The pair becomes the second Blue Demon duo to represent the conference in doubles at the event, following Matteo Iaquinto and Tobias Leitner in 2024.
The 2025 ITA Conference Masters will feature a 32-player singles draw and a 32-team doubles draw. Click here for more information on the ITA Conference Masters.
