HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET ONE
The two sides traded blows the entire way, with neither team pulling away until Marquette went on a 3-0 scoring run to go ahead, 22-19. DePaul immediately responded with a 4-0 run, led by kills from Morgan Stewart, Kendall Timme and Katelynn Oxley, taking a 23-22 lead. From there, an Emma Parks kill evened the frame for the Golden Eagles, and a DePaul attack error and killed from Hattie Bray narrowly earned Marquette the opening frame, 25-23.
SET TWO
DePaul came out swinging with a 6-1 scoring run early, led by two kills each from Stewart and Tavares Salomon. Marquette fought back within two after a 5-0 run of its own, fueled by a pair of kills from Ring and a service ace from Mari King. Following a Blue Demon timeout, DePaul took the next three points to build its lead again, 20-16, aided by a pair of Marquette errors. Despite the Golden Eagles charging forward to come within a point late, a Timme kill sealed the second frame, 25-23, in favor of DePaul.
SET THREE
